10 Spring Cleaning Tips (Scrapbooking) For Your Kitchen

How To Make Money With Scrapbooking

The words “spring cleaning” can make the neatest person cringe. They mean more work. As if cleaning all year long wasn’t enough. Spring cleaning is more than just cleaning…it is deep cleaning. Something that most people do not have time for all year long. Since my expertise is cooking, I have decided to focus on spring cleaning and dirt build up prevention tips for the kitchen….

Something that most people do not have time for all year long. Since my expertise is cooking, I have decided to focus on spring cleaning and dirt build up prevention tips for the kitchen….

Baking soda or club soda will clean and shine stainless steel sinks easily. Simply apply directly to surface and scrub a dub dub.

To Remove stubborn water spots from a stainless sink scrub with a cloth dampened with rubbing alcohol or vinegar.

To freshen up your “white” porcelain sinks, place paper towels across the bottom of your sink and saturate with bleach. Let sit over night and rinse.

After you’ve cleaned your refrigerator and freezer place an open box of baking soda in the back of each to help absorb odors for about a month.

A few drops vanilla extract on a piece of cotton placed in the refrigerator will also help eliminate odors.

Wipe refrigerator with vinegar after cleaning to help prevent mildew.

Change your refrigerator light bulbs…that way you never have to worry about them burning out during the year.

To clean baked-on food from a cooking pan, put a dryer sheet in the pan, fill with water, let sit overnight then sponge clean. The anti-static agents help weaken the bond between the food and the pan and the fabric softeners will soften the baked-on food.

To clean burnt or scorched pans, sprinkle pans liberally with baking soda, adding just enough water to moisten. Let stand over night.

To get those stubborn stains off of the inside of you microwave; spray liberally with two parts water and one part bleach, heat on high for 20 seconds and let stand for about an hour. The stains should come right off. For really stubborn stains heat for 30 seconds and let sit for 2 - 3 hours.

Family Bonding Activities for Thanksgiving. (Scrapbooking)

101 Scrapbooking Tips
Learn how to create professional scrapbooks. -
Permissino to reprint and change title.
————–
There are three main themes for Thanksgiving: gratitude, the harvest, and family. We can lose track of these things when we’re busy preparing for company and big meals, and Christmas shopping, and the kids are out of school too! Here are some ways you and the family can share some time recapturing the meaning of Thanksgiving, or even start some new traditions.

Let each member of the family make a list of things they’re grateful for. Read the lists before the meal and save them for memories in years to come.

Start a “thanks” journal you’ll keep all year.
Instead of writing down problems and concerns, write down the things you’re grateful for.

Think harvest! Make a trip to your local Farmers Market or Produce Row to take photos, have fun, and support the people who feed us all!

Spend the long weekend on family projects such as making a Family Tree. For help, visit ancestry.com, or check out the Family Tree maker on geneology.org.

How about some family crafting for Thanksgiving? There are some great crafts ideas hereto do with the kids, plus recipes, songs, and learning activities, even computer worksheets for older kids.

Put the family photos in order, and share some memories and tales. Go here to learn the basics of scrapbooking. Take the time to sort them by date, and write on the backs who all the people are.

Make some “Corny” Table toppers. Find directions here — Thanksgiving place cards and napkin rings.

Make some “Good Manners Napkins.” This is so sweet! All you need is cloth napkins, pieces of paper, pencil, fabric markers, and scissors to write on napkins “Use your napkin,” or “Chew with your mouth closed.” Go here for these darling reminders to “mind your manners”!

Make Color Me Thankful Posters for each guest at Thanksgiving table. Download poster and instructions here.
Did you know Sarah Josepha Hale, an acclaimed author and editor lobbied for 23 years before she got President Lincoln to establish Thanksgiving as a national holiday in 1863? Spend some evenings reading about the history and traditions of Thanksgiving. Here’s one site with information.

Try some of these family bonding activities to share the season and appreciate it, and one another, more.

Scrapbooking - Scrapbooking a Lifetime of Memories

SimplyScrapbooking.com
Scrapbooking. -

Scrapbooking is a popular hobby these days. There are books, magazines, websites, companies, and meeting groups dedicated to preserving our photo memories in a personally meaningful way. I have a dear friend who creates scrapbooks that are truly works of art; people actually pay her to make scrapbooks for them. My scrapbooks will never reach that level of sophistication, consisting only of photos attached to colored paper and simple captions. Nevertheless, I hope that my children will someday appreciate the books I have made for them. Each boy has his own book so that when they grow up and leave the nest, they can take a piece of their past with them. In their books are all the pictures you would expect to find: birthdays, Christmas, trips that we have taken, as well as some photos of everyday occurrences. All the individuals who have played a role in their young lives are labeled by name so that thirty years from now they won’t have to come back and ask me who these people are.

All the individuals who have played a role in their young lives are labeled by name so that thirty years from now they won’t have to come back and ask me who these people are.

Yet, despite my attempts at thoroughness, I can’t help but feel that the most precious memories are the ones that don’t fit neatly into a scrapbook. There are so many moments that haven’t been preserved on film, times that the presence of a camera would destroy. Playing hide-and-seek in the backyard, curling up with my boys reading their favorite stories over and over, running around the bases at the park, and the quiet times at night when my husband and I get them ready for bed are some of my cherished moments that are captured only in my heart. I wish that there were some way of holding on to those memories and passing them along to my sons, but I have to trust that they are making their own. Although they may not consciously remember these joyful times, I hope that the feelings of love and happiness will be permanently imprinted in them for them to one day share with their own children. Then, their scrapbooks will be complete.

Finding Your Niche - An Internet Marketing Goldmine (Scrapbook kits)

101 Scrapbooking Tips
Learn how to create professional scrapbooks. -

If you haven’t heard the word ‘niche’ being batted around by Internet Marketers then you haven’t been listening. Finding a niche has become the antidote to competing in overly saturated online markets.

What is a niche?

According to Merriam-Webster’s Online Dictionary a niche is described as “a place, employment, status, or activity for which a person or thing is best fitted… a specialized market”.

Have you noticed that despite the closing of many businesses in these sometimes harsh economic times that the local hobby train store is still around? That the ‘hole-in-the-wall’ eatery is thriving? Or that trends such as scrapbooking can start with a bang and then close within a year as four similar businesses start up in the same area?

The online business world reflects the same trends you’ll see in the offline world - often with faster turnover and startup rates.. Those who promote a product or site that targets a small, select audience can tap into a market that is otherwise not being served. Despite the limitations of the client base, the targeted nature of the business creates a devoted and active market - the aim of any business.

HOW DO I FIND A NICHE?

Finding a niche requires diligent research. Whether you have access to software that harvests and sorts information, or you take a manual approach, you must start with ideas.

With a pen and paper (or computer, if that’s more comfortable), brainstorm a list of businesses, products and industries. Start with a specific keywords in your fields of interest.

Using a software program such as WordTracker or a free resource such as the Overture Keyword Selector Tool, type your keyword in one at a time and search for words with a high amount of traffic. For instance, if you typed in the word ‘golf’, you’d discover that over 695,000 searches were done on that keyword.

Although a program like WordTracker can give you further details such as how many sites compete for that market, you can also do your own research.

Go to google.com and do a search and you’ll find over 97 MILLION websites pertaining to golf. Ouch. A little too much competition. So you need to narrow your search.

For instance, the phrase ‘golf practice net’ had over 72,000 searches done on it. When you search Google, you’ll find only 13,000 websites specifically referring to that keyword phrase. That’s a little more like it. In fact, if I knew anything about golf, I’d use it myself.

Are you starting to get the idea? You’re looking keywords with a high Keyword Effectiveness Index (KEI) ratio. For an explanation of KEI, go to http://www.wordtracker.com/help/keihelp.html

Concentrate your attention on question phrases such as “how do I…” or “where can I…”. These questions will clue you into potential markets that need servicing.

Next look in Google Answers. Type some of your keywords. What questions are being asked and how much are people willing to pay for answers? If you find a group of keywords with a high number of searches enter these words in your search engine.

What sites come up? Do they provide answers or solutions to the problem? How are they making money? Can you see an opportunity to serve these individuals?

Finding a niche can be an open door to a profitable online business. Research the market and be certain that your product or service is valuable to this group. Find forums or groups that target this audience and pay close attention to their concerns.

If you can help these people you WILL make money. The best of both worlds!

Your Portfolio: (Scrapbooker) A New Slant on an Old Subject

Scrapbooking Titles, Phrases, & Ideas!
Scrapbooking Resource eBook highlights over 5,000 fun Titles, Phrases, Captions, Quotes, Sayings & Ideas! FREE Double Bonus! -

If you’re involved in any sort of freelance, or creative work, you know the importance of a portfolio. You need an efficient way to show your best work to potential clients, customers and employers. This article discusses a new approach to creating your portfolio and new ways to portray your creative work to best advantage.

I don’t usually include folksy little anecdotes in my articles. It’s not my style. However, this is the exception. A few days ago, I was poking around in my local scrapbook store pursuing my favorite hobby. Scrapbooking, for those who don’t know, is the activity of creating “memory albums” that are a sort of marriage between a photo album, a scrapbook, and a box full of momentos.

You start with a top-loading or side- loading album with page protectors. Next, you create themed pages using photos, computer printouts, letters, cards, diplomas, brochures, or any other appropriate momento. You give your page a title, add journaling to explain what it’s all about, then add various embellishments to create the aesthetic you want. And by embellishments, I’m talking a lot more than good ol’ stickers. Today’s scrapbookers create special effects with fibre, wire, metallics, beads, eyelits, rubber stamps, mesh, glitter, buttons, ribbon, chalk, calligraphy pens and a whole lot more. It’s a creative endeavor, for sure.

Anyway, back to my story. As I was browsing the store, I noticed something unusual. A man was busy matching pictures to colored paper to create a scrapbook layout. In my community, you seldom encounter a scrapbooking male, so I was curious. I asked the man about his project. He replied that he was a furniture designer and was using a scrapbook for his portfolio. The photographs were images of the beautiful pieces he had designed. This man’s scrapbook will do double duty. First, as a portfolio, he will have an attractive and impressive album to show potential clients. Secondly, as a memory album, he will have visual and textual records of the items he has created.

Eureka! What a great idea. I had never realized scrapbooking’s potential for portfolio creation.

Any individual (or any business person) who is involved with designing or creating projects could use a scrapbook portfolio to advantage. Furniture designers, inventors, teachers, workshop presenters, construction managers, architects, web designers, software developers, poets, artists, writers, jewelry designers, fashion designers, real estate developers, musicians, chefs, desktop publishers.. If you can depict your projects in words and images, you can display them to good advantage in a scrapbook.

Understandably, people working in electronic fields often opt to use an electronic portfolio. The scrapbooked portfolio is not suggested to be a replacement, but rather an augment. How often have you tried to show a new client your electronic portfolio only to encounter disaster in the form of a hardware of software incompatibility or a fuse that blew or a VCR with a missing cable? Or, how about the times when your “one on one” meeting with the prospective client ended up with eight people crowding around your laptop to view your presentation? The scrapbooked portfolio would be a great backup solution to this scenario, I’m thinking.

A picture is worth a thousand words, as they say. I’m including a few links that will take you to scrapbooking web sites. There you will be able to view a number of sample layouts so you get an idea of what I’m talking about. I’ll warn you in advance, most of the layouts you’ll find will be depicting family events, kits, pets, vacations and so forth. You’ll have to call upon your imagination to visualize how the same techniques could be used for portfolio creation. But we already know you have plenty of imagination, don’t we? You wouldnt be needing a portfolio if you didn’t.

Scrapbook kits - Build Your Business Through Referrals

SimplyScrapbooking.com
Scrapbooking. -

Have you considered instating a referral program for your business? Though few businesses can survive by word-of-mouth alone, it is an important aspect to almost any business. The potential clients that you gain through referrals cost you next to nothing while finding potential clients through advertising can be a spendy proposition. Even if youre a guerilla-marketing guru, referrals are still cheapersomething that, as a guerilla marketer, you already realize. Referred clients are also easier to convert to active clients.

Despite this, most businesses dont take any control over the word-of-mouth buzz that they are generating. They dont give a reward to the people who are talking about them anyway and they dont give a push to the people who would be taking about them if they were just a little bit motivated.

The first key element to any referral program is something that you should be doing anyway. Delivering o, even better, over-delivering on your promises. For a referral program to be successful, your business needs to be in good shape. You need to show your clients that you value them, strive to offer them something of value, and make good service a high priority.

Once that is done, reward your clients when they refer someone to you. And let them know that you plan to reward them. There are a lot of different options when it comes to setting up a referral program.

A discount on product or services is probably the most popular form that a referral program takes, but even then such programs can still vary widely. A bookstore might give you coupons to give out to friends and familythe coupon would have your code on it and you would earn points towards discounts or even free products for every coupon of yours that was redeemed. I used to go to a hairdresser that would ask every new client who referred they were referred by. When a person had three referrals to their name they would receive a free haircut.

Another way to set up a referral program is to offer something related that you normally dont provide clients. A landscaping company could offer a gift certificate to a home and garden store, a work out club could offer a gift certificate for a massage or a free work out shirt, or a photographer could give away a pass to a scrapbooking seminar.

A third option is to reward referrals with cash. This type of program is particularly popular on the Internet and often develops into a full-blown affiliate program.

These are just a few ideas for a referral programto generate more ideas ask around to local business and see what, if anything, they have in place.

When you set up your referral program, you need to promote it. Send a letter out to your client list. Post a sign in your office or near your register inviting clients to ask about your referral program. Volunteer information whenever you can.

You also need to have a way to keep track of whos referring who. Whether it becomes part of your initial conversation with a new client to ask how they found out about you (it should be anyway) and you keep track of names or whether you give something to your existing clients to pass along to referrals who will then redeem it when they come in, you need to set up a reliable way of tracking your referrals. Its another promise that you are making to your clients and you need to deliver.

Once you have set up a referral program and taken the time to promote it, chances are good that youll notice your business growing faster and easier than ever.

3 Ways to Create More Profit While Revitalizing Your Spirit (Scrapbooking kits)

By Tatiana Velitchkov 2001-2002

Do you remember what it was like when we were still children?

We were invincible - we felt we can do absolutely anything!

We KNEW we could climb trees, walk on walls, taste the rain, solve mysteries, turn stones into masterpieces - all before we even tried them.

And whenever we DID try them, it never really mattered if we succeeded beautifully or failed miserably. The most important thing was that we DID it, and we were happy.

Now we’ve become adults, and things have gotten a little bit complicated.

Now we have businesses to run, jobs to finish, families to provide for, children to raise, partners to build relationships with.

And although all of these things need our time and attention, they sometimes make us forget another important thing that also needs our time and attention: our spirit.

That same fun-loving, creative spirit that used to burst out of us in childhood, but had somehow retreated into a backroom closet as we learned to become more “responsible.”

Now, this article isn’t about becoming irresponsible.

Responsibility is GOOD, and effective planning, delegation, and time management are EXCELLENT.

But what this article is actually saying is: don’t forget to nourish your spirit.

Don’t forget it just because you have a job, or a business, or a family, or a spouse, or a website, or a cat, or all of the above.

Take time out for yourself - time to concentrate on YOU - so you can return to all these things recharged, refreshed, and revitalized enough to take on ANYTHING.

Have A Hobby
————

Probably the easiest, simplest, and least time-consuming way to nourish your creative side is to have a hobby.

Maybe you used to have one. Maybe you already have one right now, but you don’t even know it.

When I browsed through Dictionary.Com I made a few discoveries:

1) Yes, a “hobby” is a spare time activity.

2) But it can also be defined as “a ruling passion,” “a favorite and ever-recurring theme of discourse, thought, or effort.”

3) AND, the old definitions of the word origins for hobby include “to move,” “to stir,” and “to jump.”

So - more than just being a “pastime” - a hobby is actually something that moves you, stirs your passion, and makes your spirit jump up and dance.

Shouldn’t all of us know our priorities well enough to create time for something like THIS?

What A Hobby Can Do For You —————————

The truth is that all of us are creative.

No, no… scratch that.

THE TRUTH is that all of us have a NEED to create.

We all knew it as kids… now it’ll probably take an article like this to make us remember it as adults.

Creating something out of nothing is something ALL of us can do.

Creating also gives us a sense of power, an affirmation of our worth as human beings.

Suddenly we are not helpless. Suddenly we are in control again. Suddenly no problem is too large or too long or too big.

We are creative, and we have the ability to face any kind of challenge and walk off with the solutions.

In this sense, you might say that a hobby that stimulates your creativity is like a drug that gives you a high.

And the good news is that - besides being all-natural & healthy - high-inducing hobbies even have the potential to make you more money.

What A Hobby Can Do For Your Business ————————————-

If you can find a way to bottle the “high” created by a good, healthy hobby, you can sell it and become horrendously rich.

But barring that, there are 3 other ways for you to actually make more money from your hobby:

1. Turn your hobby INTO your business

Nothing beats doing what you love to do best. And, as many successful people have discovered, turning your burning passion into a money making enterprise often results into the most successful venture you can ever make.

Almost any hobby can be transformed into a business.

If you can’t sell your finished products, you can sell the supplies needed to re-create your products, or the equipment needed to pursue your hobby.

You can also conduct classes & seminars for beginners on the topic, along with re-packed “starter kits” to get them on their way.

2. Use your hobby to add “personality” to your marketing materials.

One dentist placed his scrapbook in the waiting room at his office.

As a scrapbook it contained all the usual elements: facts, design, & photographs.

But as a marketing tool, it did much more: it showed the successes & highlights of his career, it revealed endearing details about his staff, and it graphically illustrated the remarkable improvements in patients whose teeth he had treated.

The clients who thumbed through his scrapbook weren’t only entertained & impressed; they were also suddenly assured of their dentist’s expertise and professionalism, as well as the reliability of his staff.

And none of them even had to say a word!

Even if you’re not into scrapbooking, there are many other ways to incorporate your hobby into your marketing materials.

Part-time magicians have used “magic themes” in their brochures & calling cards; hobby soap makers have created personalized soaps as giveaways to their most loyal clients.

The only limit is your imagination… and how much of your hobby you really want to show.

3. Use your hobby to market yourself.

Allotting time for your hobby often also means joining groups & meeting new people in this specialized area. And whenever you meet new people, you create more opportunities to find the ones who need your services the most.

Tell fellow hobbyists about your business, and ask them for referrals. Or give your office a personal touch (and lively conversation starters) by displaying your collections & masterpieces.

Either way, your hobby will always set you apart from the rest, making you more memorable & your service more marketable.

Besides being an easy way to revitalize your spirit, a hobby also gives you more opportunities to earn extra money.

…And even if you didn’t have such “important” reasons as these, having a hobby is just plain FUN!

Try it today!
